Jacqueline Woodson has landed in Sweden

The American author Jacqueline Woodson today landed in Sweden. During ALMA week May 22-28 Woodson will meet Swedish press, do author talks, meet students, visit Astrid Lindgren’s childhood home in Vimmerby and of course, officially receive the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award.

Jacqueline Woodson, the American author who writes about turning points in young people’s lives, is here to receive the world's largest award for children's and YA literature. The Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award 2018 is presented by H. R. H. Crown Princess Victoria on May 28 at a festive award ceremony in the Stockholm Concert Hall.

Swedish Minister for Culture and Democracy Alice Bah Kuhnke will give an address in her honor. Master of ceremonies is the Swedish writer and speaker Navid Modiri. The program for invited guests also includes musical entertainment and performing acts.
