Meet the ALMA Laureate for 2022, Eva Lindström

Eva Lindström (b. 1952) is a Swedish picture book artist. She has published some 35 solo titles and has illustrated many books by other authors. She writes stories that shift between the everyday and the existential, combining shrewd humour with absurd mystery.

Yukiko Duke is an arts and culture journalist, writer, translator and presenter. She has served as the artistic director of Stockholm Literature, among other roles. She also lectures on literature, reading, Japanese culture and community life.

This year the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award celebrates its 20th anniversary. The award was created by the Swedish government and is the largest in the world of its kind. It is a global award given annually to a person or organisation for their outstanding contribution to children’s and young adult literature.
