On 30 March, the French author Jean-Claude Mourlevat was awarded the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award. He spent his childhood in a home almost without books, today he writes award-winning novels with a particular love for fairy tale, fable and fantasy. From the jury's motivation: "Mourlevat’s ever-surprising work pins the fabric of ancient epic onto a contemporary reality."
